What is RFG Scheme?
短吻犬呼吸功能分級是由英國畜犬協會及英國劍橋大學所制定針對「短吻犬阻塞性呼吸道症候群（BOAS）」的分級制度。受過訓練的獸醫師藉由此分級制度，將短吻犬種如巴哥、法鬥、英鬥進行呼吸功能評估並分級，以把關短吻犬健康與福祉。
Respiratory Function Grading Scheme (RFG scheme) was developed by The Kennel Club and University of Cambridge. It is used to classify Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). This classification system is for veterinarians to assess and grade the respiratory function of brachycephalic dogs (flat-face dogs) such as Pug, French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, to ensure the health and welfare of brachycephalic breeds
為什麼要分級?
Why Do We Need To Classify It?
將不同嚴重程度的短吻犬，依照嚴重程度從第0級到第３級總共四個等級，第０級表示未出現BOAS相關症狀；第3級表示出現嚴重的BOAS症狀需要醫療介入。
According to the severity of BOAS, brachycephalic breeds will be classified into different grades from level 0 to level 3; with level 0 being clinically unaffected and is currently free of BOAS symptoms and level 3 being severe BOAS symptoms which require medical intervention.
此分級制度不建議第3等級的種公狗和種母狗進行繁殖，因為其後代也患有BOAS風險相當高，而造成狗狗天生呼吸道構造異常，導致呼吸功能異常，最終影響狗狗的生活品質。
Grade 3 dame and sire (female and male breeding dog) are NOT recommended for future breeding, as there is a relatively high risk that their offspring will also suffer from BOAS, being born with respiratory anatomical abnormality which compromises the respiratory function, ultimately affecting your dog's life quality.
誰可以擔任檢測人員？
Who Can Be Assessors?
除了是擁有獸醫師證照之外，還需要通過「短吻犬呼吸功能分級的檢測員訓練」。
每一個國家都有一位「主要測試獸醫師」，主要測試獸醫師會舉辦訓練課程，訓練多名「區域性測試獸醫師」。通過訓練的獸醫師，即可在其動物醫院進行短吻犬呼吸功能分級的檢測。
In addition to being a qualified veterinary surgeon, you have to pass a “Respiratory Function Grading Scheme Assessor Training”
Each country has a "Chief assessor" that organizes training sessions for several "Regional assessors". Veterinarians who pass the training are then able to perform RFG Scheme assessments at their local animal hospitals.
